What are the limits of usage?  Do these concepts apply at the division, firm, industry, or market level? Knowing the right scope tells us where the conceptual structure makes sense and where it does not.

Concerns

There is a danger when the structures are improperly scoped.  Assuming that these concepts are the same across each firm puts them at the industry level, which may be different from how the industry views these concepts.

Guidance

Control for scope by determining the correct boundaries.  If policies are drafted they need to either apply at a particular level or they will be assumed to be universal laws.
