Elevator
Everything is formally checked and signed off to determine that the vision matches the execution
Concerns
Organizations will rely on metrics to measure progress and focus on who is responsible rather than who is accountable.
Practices
The enterprise architect needs to set up the governance points where progress can be checked at a deeper level than project management. These points can be used for go_nogo_stage_gates that determine when a project should not procede forward as well as permit_check_points, where permits are issued at different stages of a lifecycle that access that they right steps have been taken.
Enterprise architects need to setup and govern Architectural_Review_Boards or ARBs that can act as either stage_gates or check_points. These are comprised of differing stakeholders depending upon the questions that need to be answered and the risk being addressed.
Enterprise architects have sign-off that the permits and stage_gates during the Architectural_Review_Board has answered the right questions and is complete enough to proceed forward. The enterprise architect can also require that the other participants sign-off to any issue resolution that is brought up during these reviews.
